Richmond Premier hero Bachar Hooley has been airlifted to a Melbourne hospital after a serious car crash near Canberra.
The former AFL star suffered a broken femur and multiple fractures during a camping excursion, according to reports.
According to the Herald Sun, the accident happened when the car in which Hooley and a friend were traveling overturned.
The former three-time premiership star retires in 2021 after an impressive career spanning 232 games, including 26 with Essendon and 206 with Richmond.
Huli’s friend, who was also involved in the incident, was seriously injured.

Hooley will retire from the AFL in 2021 but remains a much-loved member of the Tigers family after winning two premierships with Richmond.

“He was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne after a car accident while camping over the long weekend,” AFL Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary said.
Those close to him said this evening that he was in a stable condition, which is good news.
“Many bones were broken. He was involved in a car collision with at least one other passenger.
“He was airlifted to Canberra and transferred to Melbourne.
“It’s a worrying night for Richmond Football Club, but I’ve spoken to people around him that he’s in a stable condition,” we’re told.
The incident comes on the day Richmond star Marlion Pickett was arrested in Perth on charges of aggravated robbery, theft and criminal damage.

Hawley made his AFL debut in 2007 for the Essendon Football Club. However, he really flourished after moving to the Tigers in 2011.
Known for his exceptional skill as a defender, Hooley has become a key player for Richmond, known for his interceptions and precise control.
He was a key member of the team that broke Richmond’s 37-year drought and won the AFL premiership in 2017.
Hawley’s versatility and leadership on and off the field has earned him the respect of his teammates and the wider AFL community, making him a beloved figure in the game.

Hooley is seen as a role model and has been tapped to promote the 2022 AFL finals series, holding the premiership trophy as an ambassador alongside CEO Gil McLachlan.

Hawley is recognized for his work off the field, illustrated by the Jim Stines Community Leadership Award, given to players who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities in their community.

Hooley has been a tough defender and has been integral to the Tigers’ resurgence in recent years, winning three AFL flags.
Fans rushed to send their best wishes to the Tigers star.
“As an AFC fan, I really admire Bahar for his skill, fairness and such a brilliant personality. His role in society should not be underestimated. I wish you a speedy recovery,” wrote one.
“Tough night for Richmond fans. I hope Bahar is well, loved to see him being a real role model for the younger players,” wrote another.
“Thoughts and prayers for Bachar Huli and his family. One of my favorite Richmond players, added another.
Known for his passion for camping and his affinity for exploring remote areas with his friends, Hooley’s love for outdoor adventures is well-documented.
In addition, as the third Muslim to play in the AFL, Hooley became an inspiration to young Australian Muslims.
In 2019, he founded the Bachar Houli Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing young leaders in the Muslim community. The Foundation achieves its goals by instilling a sense of belonging through football development.
